We're excited to announce two new Summer Camp programs this year:
The 2017 Summer Camps at Red Barn will offer enticing opportunities for kids to unplug and tune into themselves, each other, and the natural world around them. We will offer two one-week camp sessions with different themes. Our Peacekeeper Training and our Food, Art, & Nature Camps will both be open to children ages 3-6. They will grow, learn, and play through mindful, creative, hands-on projects, developmentally appropriate activities, walks, crafts, games, gardening, cooking and more.
With a maximum ratio of 8 children to 1 adult, space is LIMITED! So be sure to SIGN UP NOW, so your children won’t miss the chance to connect this summer.
(Priority will be given to students enrolling or re-enrolling at Red Barn for the 2017-18 school year.)
JUNE 15, 2017: Our Peacekeeper Training Camp has been CANCELLED due to not meeting enrollment minimums.

[CANCELLED] Peacemaker Training Camp
June 26 - 30th
The skills of peacekeeping and peacemaking are not just for grown-ups. Children experience conflict as often, if not more, than adults because they are still navigating their own ability to understand the world around them.
Many adults do not notice this because we are too quick to intervene for the child in their conflicts, acting as judge, jury, and police. However, we can facilitate conflict resolution while empowering children to practice skills that will lead to solutions they feel good about. The more children learn how to address and resolve their conflicts nonviolently, the more confidence they will have, the better they will do academically, and the more they will feel empowered to make better choices as adults when dealing with complex challenges. The session includes centering practice, movement, storytelling, skill learning and practice, and art. |
Food, Art & Nature Camp
July 10 - 14th
Children will explore the connections between art and nature and the food we eat on Red Barn's beautiful campus. This camp will be about finding inspiration in nature and exploring nature by making art and food. Fun and engaging activities will include everything from preparation of communal snacks to tie dying t-shirts, from painting to planting, or from weaving to nature hikes.

Camp FAQs |
Where will camp be held?
Both sessions will be held on the Red Barn campus at 3820 Bodega Avenue in Petaluma. The majority of our summer camp sessions will be spent outdoors but campers will have access to the indoor classroom space as needed. Do you offer before & after care? No, we will not offer before or after care this summer. Drop off in the morning is 9am and pick up in the afternoon is at 12:30pm. (Fees will apply for late pickups.) What should my child bring each day? Please pack a lunch and a snack, a refillable bottle of water, a sun hat, and a change of clothes. Please do not allow your child to bring any "character" items or toys to Red Barn camps. What should my child wear? Please be sure that your child comes prepared to be outdoors and work and play hard! It is important that your child wears play clothes and closed toed shoes that he/she is able to run in - as we will be very active and likely get wet and/or dirty too. We suggest multiple layers as the mornings are often foggy and cool but it can get very sunny and hot by midday. As we do expect to spend almost all of our time outdoors, please be sure to apply sunscreen in the morning before you drop off your child. |
